Montanans for Fair Elections is 100% opposed to CI-126 & CI-127.
Right now, every party is guaranteed the opportunity to field a candidate on the November ballot. As CI-126 implements a “top 4 primary” there would no longer be a guarantee that every party is able to get on the ballot, disenfranchising many voters.

CI-126 & CI-127 receive 98% of their funding from out of state dark money groups.

Montana already has open primaries, CI-126 & CI-127 would implement “top 4 primaries” and “runoff elections”.
California has “top 2 primaries.” This election system has resulted in every Republican candidate being kicked off the ballot in a majority Republican district in 2022. CI-126 would implement “top 4 primaries,” a similar system.

CI-127 would create “runoff elections,” which cause elected officials to be elected with lower voter turnout and fewer votes.
